CAPS to maintain pressure in league race

Sports Reporter
HARARE giants CAPS United say they aim to maintain pressure in the league race as they hope to use the weekend bye to extend their preparations for the big match against Highlanders in their next assignment. The Premier Soccer League have cancelled fixtures this weekend to give a platform to the NetOne One Wallet Cup final between Dynamos and Triangle at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
But the Green Machine, who bowed out of the tournament in the quarter-final stage, will not rest on their laurels.

Makepekepe lost 0-1 to bitter rivals Dynamos in a tightly contested quarter-final.
They were recently eliminated from the Chibuku Super Cup by FC Platinum.
CAPS United rose to third on the log standings at the weekend with a 1-0 win over Black Rhinos.

Team manager Luis Maio said they were looking to draw inspiration from their position on the log standings.
“The boys played their hearts out and we managed to get the three points that we needed desperately. Slowly, but surely, we are going up the ladder.
“It hasn’t been a smooth journey but we have always been in the race for the championship. I have always said it since the beginning of the season and we are trying to keep focused.

“I was impressed by the response from our supporters at the weekend. They came out in numbers at Rimuka. I think we have to understand that this is not about the coach or the players but the name CAPS United.

“At this point, that is when the true CAPS United colours come out. It cannot always be an easy journey but we have to rally behind the team till the end. “Every game now is a big game especially as we are fighting for the title,” said Maio. CAPS United will also face Triangle, FC Platinum, Buffaloes, Harare City and ZPC Kariba in their last match.
