CAPS United assistant coach Mark Mathe believes there is still a lot of work to be done despite the team’s good run in the championship race and they will not get carried away by their position.

Addressing a media briefing yesterday in the company of striker Simba Nhivi, the coach said they were just focussed on winning their matches.

“What we need to understand is that there is a difference in winning one game and winning one, two, …, five games, consistently,” said Mathe.

“You take satisfaction in that, as coaches, players and everyone at CAPS United, when we win consistently.

“Generally, we are happy with the way the team is performing but there is still a lot of work to be done.”

Mathe said there were no easy games in the domestic Premiership and newboys Bulawayo City, whom they meet at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday, will make life difficult for them.

“There are certain aspects that we are looking into and considering about Bulawayo City, first and foremost, they are coached by a seasoned coach Philani Ncube,” said Mathe.

“They have assembled a strong squad with seasoned campaigners and they have also been doing well on the road.

“What will also make this game tough is the fact that they are coming from a defeat at home and if we look at the statistics, they are very strong defensively and good on the road which means concentration levels are always high when playing away from home so it is not going to be a walkover but a tough game.”

Nhivi, who scored his first league goal this season at Sakubva, said the players were ready for the show.

“A lot of things happened last week but the guys got over it and we are focused on the Bulawayo City match,” said Nhivi.
