CAN Chunga turn out to be the Biblical Moses to deliver Buffaloes from the bondage of relegation and ensure that they preserve their Premiership status? All football eyes in Mutare will be on Chunga when his platoon plunges into battle against Hwange at Sakubva in the final fixture of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League 2014 season tomorrow.

The coalminers clobbered the soldiers 5-1 in the reverse tie at the Colliery.

Buffaloes are precariously hanging by the thread and an outright victory over Hwange will see them staying up.

With Chiredzi and Bantu Rovers already demoted, two more teams will go down to Division One. And another six sides, Black Rhinos (34), Shabanie Mine (35), Harare City (35), Buffaloes (36), Triangle (37) and Chapungu (37) are all in danger.

“As a team, we are in a tricky position because we have made life difficult for ourselves by being our enemies through posting some poor results along the way,” said Chunga.

“If we had played as well as we should have, we wouldn’t be in this mess.  However, since we can’t reverse the situation, we have to fight very hard like soldiers from this tight corner because our life in the Premiership is depending on this game. While it might look gloomy, we are not deterred and will come out with all guns blazing as we seek to save our season by avoiding relegation.

“Right now, we are thinking positive and will play positively in pursuit of a victory.  How we are going to respond to our situation will have a huge bearing and impact on the outcome of our final match, but, on the whole, we will get into this tie against Hwange with the right attitude and mentality which will enable us to get the result we want.”

The former Warriors skipper also called on all the other teams as well as match officials to respect Fair Play.

Perhaps Buffaloes will derive motivation from the fact that the race for the Eastern Region Division One sole ticket into the Premiership has narrowed down to only two Mutare-based teams – Buffalo Junior and Mutare City Rovers.

And Chunga acknowledges as much.

“Our own survival in the Premiership would be made all the sweeter by Buffalo Junior or Mutare City Rovers joining us aboard. This will mean a lot for Mutare’s football community, and on our part, we have to ensure that we survive and remain in the league so that everyone lives and enjoys the reality of this dream.

“The city has got the football talent and should have been ahead of the likes of Zvishavane and Chiredzi who both had two teams in the league this season,” said Chunga.
