YAOUNDE. — Cameroon’s World Cup squad was late yesterday scheduled to board their flight to Brazil after having refused to get on an earlier flight in a strike over their payment for the tournament, according to reports. The team stayed back at their hotel in Yaounde while reporters camped outside the Cameroon Football Federation headquarters for further information.

A charter plane was due to leave Yaounde for Brazil, where Cameroon play their opening game of the tournament against Mexico on Friday.

Minister Adoum Garoua told Camfoot.com: “Everyone is ready to ship at 9:30pm for Brazil. Everything has been clarified. There are no more problems.”

Cameroon players had last week threatened to go on strike until they received promised payment for participating at the World Cup but suspended the strike ahead of their international friendly against Germany last Sunday, the French sports paper L’Equipe reported.

Cameroon are in Group A with hosts Brazil, Croatia and Mexico.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Adebayor may have missed out on the World Cup, but it doesn’t appear to bother the Tottenham striker.

Adebayor posted a picture in interesting attire with caption life is good — just a week before the tournament in Brazil gets underway.

Togo’s fate was sealed last June after a 2-0 defeat against Libya saw their dreams fade away.

However, Adebayor looks like he has no problem watching the finals from his armchair if the picture above is anything to go by.
