Bulawayo’s popular musical group, Insingizi, is set to take part at this year’s edition of the symphonic gala concert in Austria. The concert will take place on November 15 and 16 in Vienna and it celebrates classic and current masterpieces of film and music.

Insingizi is made up of Dumisani Ramadu Moyo, Blessings Nqo Nkomo and Vusa Mkhaya Ndlovu.

Taking this centre stage in Vienna will prove what the group is best known for, which includes uplifting performances filled with harmonious acapella, traditional chants, hand percussion, and well-crafted choreography.

The group has been featured on various films on television stations that include the BBC (UK), ORF (Austria), ARD (Germany), PBS (USA) and ARTE (France).

One of the members, Vusa Ndlovu, revealed that the concert organisers are in search for singers for the soundtrack of the film “Blood Diamond Live”.

He is also the one who got the call from one of the co-ordinators saying that they were recommended by one recording studio executive for the concert.

“The co-ordinators asked to listen to our previous works and I personally provided the material. I then had a Skype interview with the musical director of the show and after that he told me they will have us for the concert.

“The concert line-up includes many singers and musicians interpreting different works from James Newton Howard, accompanied by The ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra,” said Ndlovu.

Insingizi also indicated they are to release their third album later this month entitled “African Harmonies”.

The album has thanksgiving messages to their followers who have been by their side through thick and thin.

The songs on the album are performed in English and Ndebele in three-part harmonies.

From their North American release of their first album, “Voices of Southern Africa” sold over 250 000 copies.

Insingizi have toured world over as a group and also with solo projects winning France’s Prix France Musique du Monde in 2010 (Radio France World Music Award).
