SOUTH AFRICAN-BASED Zimbabwean dancehall musician/producer Buffalo Souljah is excited about participation at the upcoming Channel O Music Video awards to be held on November 30 at Walter Sisulu Square in Soweto, South Africa. The dreadlocked artiste’s dancehall tune, “Basawine”, was nominated for Most Gifted Ragga Dancehall Video category and has received over a million views on YouTube.

“I will be performing the song live on stage alongside other African artistes and it will be my opportunity to showcase Zim talent to the whole world,” he said.

Buffalo Souljah will be competing against Nigeria’ Jesse Jagz who did the song “Murder Dem”, Kenya’s P-Unit (You Guy), Uganda’s Radio and Weasel (Can’t Let You Go) and Ghana’s Kaakie who sang Too Much.

Buffalo grabbed the award in the same category last year for the track “Staera Inonyengesa” featuring Cabo Snoop from Angola, bringing to five the number of Channel O awards he has under his belt.

His greatest feat was back in 2008 when he scooped two awards for Best Ragga Dancehall Video and Best Newcomer categories.

His latest offering comes off the album “Da Chosen 1” which is a mix of afro-jazz, house and hip-hop fused with his trademark reggae dancehall tune.

Recently, the self-professed King of African Dancehall did a collaboration with Nyla of Jamaican female ragga duo Brick and Lace on a song called “Born To Be Wild”.

Buffalo has also worked with Thembi Seete, Bongo Riot, AKA, Pro Kid, K Switch and 2011 Celebrity Big Brother Africa housemate Hanni from Ethiopia, among others.
