TROUBLES continue to mount at Beitbridge Division One side, Border Strikers, who have been booted out of the ZIFA Central Region Soccer League for failing to pay affiliation fees. The affiliation fees for the Division One League are $3 200. Cash flow problems have been rocking the team for some time now although they have a blotted board of trustees with over 35 businessmen who claim to be bankrolling the team. The team have been failing to fulfil their fixtures. Club chairman Mandla Combat Moyo confirmed the developments yesterday.

“Things are bad in our camp and we are going back to the drawing board. Initially, we had agreed with the CSL to a payment plan of $500 per week in affiliation fees, but we failed due to poor revenue in-flows. In addition, we were owing match officials close to $650,’’ he said.

Moyo said they had failed to agree with the CSL authorities on a revised payment plan of $300 per week.

“In cases where we failed to play, the CSL, would award three points with a score line of 3-0 to our opponents. Unfortunately, we went for three games without playing and we were shown the door. However, we are not losing hope yet, we are working on a comeback plan,’’ he said.

He said the team was hit by an exodus of corporate sponsors soon after relegation.
