ORGANISERS of the Bob 91 Super Cup have lined up a cocktail function in Harare on Friday where they hope to get confirmation on pledges made by the corporate world for the hosting of this year’s tournament.

Three teams took part in this edition and Harare giants Dynamos and CAPS United will play in a final showdown on Sunday.

Makepekepe qualified for the final following their 2-1 win over Highlanders in an elimination match played at Barbourfields last Sunday while DeMbare had a bye as defending champions.

The Bob Super Cup spokesperson Charles Mabika said prize money would be determined after the cocktail where they are looking to take stock and appeal for more funds from the business community.

An announcement on the package is likely to be made afterwards.

Last year, Dynamos bagged US$45 000 for winning the cup while Highlanders received US$25 000 for reaching the final. The third team in the tournament Harare City got $10 000.

“So far the tournament is progressing well and on Friday we are going to have a cocktail function. The objective of this function is to have the pledges that were made confirmed and thereafter we are hoping to unveil the prizes for this year,” said Mabika.

Mabika said the organisers will put in place mechanisms to create a peaceful environment for Sunday’s final. In a bid to add colour they have also lined up a number of entertainment activities which include a show by paratroopers during the half-time break.

“We are hoping both teams are preparing well for this final and we should only expect a fun-filled family day out besides the thrilling football match, which is the main menu.

The organisers were still to finalise on the gate charges by yesterday afternoon. Supporters paid $2 for the cheapest ticket at Barbourfields with the Upper Grand stand pegged at $5 and $10 for the VIP.

Mabika said they are still looking to have the match played at Rufaro although they have been suggestions it could be moved to the spacious National Sports Stadium in anticipation of a huge turnout.
