Dancehall artistes Popcaan and Black Ryno have rekindled their friendship following a public feud, which started in 2010 after Black Ryno announced that he was leaving Vybz Kartel’s Gaza camp.
Black Ryno had released a song called ‘‘Mi Lef’’, produced by Supa Blunt, in which he explained his experience in the camp and the reason for his exit.

However, Popcaan, who was still a member of the Gaza camp at the time, decided to also release songs such as ‘‘Dem Sell Wi Ou’’t and ‘‘Killa From Mi Born’’ against the artiste and in defence of his then mentor Vybz Kartel.

Black Ryno also released his fair share of diss songs aimed at Popcaan, songs such as ‘‘Courage’’ and ‘‘Dem Ago Dead’’. The two artistes also made headlines in 2012, after they were involved in a squabble on stage at the Supreme Promotions-promoted event, Sting.

At the time, it didn’t seem like there would ever be a peace agreement between the former labelmates. However, during a recent interview with The STAR, Black Ryno was singing a different tune.

“Everything between me and Popcaan always been good, its just the people never see me and the artiste. But everything good else I wouldn’t have turned out at his album launch recently and performed,” Black Ryno said.

Popcaan is promoting his debut album called ‘‘Where We Come From’’ and recently hosted its official launch at Triple Century Sports Bar and Grill.

Black Ryno, who is now signed to JA Productions, will also release his debut album in early 2015. Popcaan also made peace with Alliance boss Bounty Killer in 2013. “Yuh done know a Popcaan a represent fi Bounty Killer the legendary. Yuh done know today a yuh special day, so mi just waan seh, on behalf of me and the Unruly Gang, big up yuh damn self.” He said in a voice note to Bounty Killer at his birthday celebration.

Black Ryno is receiving favourable airplay for his single ‘‘Side Chick’’, on the High Life rhythm. — Jamaica Star.
