Mwenezi legislator Cde Kudakwashe Bhasikiti (Zanu-PF) yesterday withdrew his motion that sought to discredit Government for challenges being faced by Chingwizi villagers who were relocated in that area after they were affected by floods in Tokwe-Mukosi.

Cde Bhasikiti’s decision to withdraw the motion followed protest by Masvingo MP Dr Daniel Shumba (Zanu-PF) who rose on a point of order last week, saying the former Masvingo Provincial Affairs Minister wanted to use privileged information that he secured during his reign in the province.

In withdrawing the motion, Cde Bhasikiti said his concerns were being addressed at the highest level and that there was no need for him to continue pursuing the issue.

He said his motion had generated a lot of interest resulting in it receiving attention.

“As a result, there were quick solutions to my anxiety. At the bottom part of my head my concern was that of the people in Chingwizi,” said Cde Bhasikiti.

The withdrawal of the motion was met with protests from MDC-T MPs who said Cde Bhasikiti had as late as the previous day assured them that he would not relent on the motion.

Glen View North MP Mr Fani Munengami (MDC-T) rose on a point of order arguing that Cde Bhasikiti had assured them the previous day that he would not withdraw the motion.

“It was only yesterday when I had discussions with him and he said under no circumstances would he withdraw the motion,” said Mr Munengami.

The protest from MDC-T drowned the voice of Cde Bhasikiti as he tried to defend himself.
