Twenty Miss Zimbabwe contestants yesterday toured Savanna Tobacco, a local cigarette manufacturing company to acquaint themselves with the firm’s operations.
The beauty queens have already visited the National Defence College, Eldorado Game Park in Macheke and the National Heroes Acre.
Today the contestants are expected to tour Freda Rebecca Mine in Bindura before they go to the country’s premier tourist resort spot — the Victoria Falls over the weekend.

Speaking during the tour, Miss Zim Trust secretary, Terry Bharu said the purpose of the visits was to help the beauty queens to be knowledgeable about their country.
“We want the contestants to know as much about their country as possible so that when they go out there, they will tell a true story from an informed perspective,” she said.

Ms Bharu said they also wanted the girls to understand the country’s economic blueprint Zim-Asset.
“We want them to understand the economic blueprint so that wherever they go, they are true ambassadors who know the country’s policies,” she said.

“Savanna is one such company which is pushing Zim-Asset because of its indigenous ownership.”
Savanna Tobacco head of marketing, Mr Gerald Gumbo urged the contestants to be innovative and start thinking about opening their own businesses.

The pageant which will be held on June 14 will be held under the theme: “Taking Zim-Asset to Greater Heights”.
