LONDON. — Bayern Munich are sniffing around Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez. The German soccer giants have made discreet enquiries about whether Arsenal would be prepared to sell Sanchez this summer.

Sanchez (27) was a sensational £33m signing for Arsenal two years ago and enjoyed a brilliant first season at the Emirates.

But Sanchez has been dogged by form and injuries this season and Bayern could be ready to pounce given any encouragement. They have yet to make a formal approach but their interest could be a worry for Arsenal as they look to tie down Sanchez to a new contract.

Sanchez has two years left on his current £130 000-a-week deal and Arsene Wenger insisted last week they are “confident” both he and Mesut Ozil will sign new deals.

It is understood that Ozil is very close to putting pen to paper after agreeing to a deal in principle but Sanchez’s negotiations are still on going with contract worth £160 000-a-week on offer.

Arsenal are looking to shake up their squad and are close to completing a deal for Borussia Monchengladbach’s £30m rated midfielder Granit Xhaka.

They will spend big this summer with a striker, defender and a new No. 2 keeper on their list as David Ospina looks set to go with Everton interested in his services while Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky are all out of contract.

Ospina is also wanted again by Turkish club Besiktas, has had offers from France while there has been interest from Everton but that may depend on Roberto Martinez’s future. — The Mirror.
