After coming in as a duet for a successful show in Harare last year, Mafikizolo has decided to go a step ahead and bring a full band for their show set for Harare International Conference Centre where they will share the stage with Zahara on March 6.

Mafikizolo will bring a 12-piece band while Zahara comes with her 10-member outfit. The South African groups will share the stage with Jah Prayzah, Winky D and Pah Chihera, who all use live bands. It will be a battle of bands.

Show promoter Simba Madziva of Simmad Entertainment said Mafikizolo had requested to bring a full band to take their act on local soil to another level.

“They said they want to surpass the level they set last year. They want to be versatile on stage so that they can deliver their old and new tunes with finesse. They have promised a good act,” said Madziva.

Mafikizolo rocked Harare in December last year when they shared the stage with Oliver Mtukudzi, Alexio and Tocky Vibes.

The venue was oversubscribed and there was chaos as people jostled to get into the fully-packed venue.

The line-up of performers at the upcoming show is strong and Mafikizolo do not want to be left behind.

Zahara has performed at the HICC before and she made Zimbabwe her second home with a string of performances in Harare and Bulawayo in 2013.

At all visits, Zahara left lasting impressions and this should be a welcome return for the “Loliwe” hitmaker.

Winky D is popular for outclassing international acts on local stages and he will be out to prove a point

Jah Prayzah is on top of his game while Pah Chihera is on a mission to prove that she is not a one-hit-wonder.

Madziva said they had learnt a lot from mistakes made with security at the last Mafikizolo show and they will ensure a smooth event.

“We apologise for the chaos and inconvenience at Mafikizolo show. Twice the expected number of fans turned up and we were ill prepared. We have now learnt how to handle such events,” said Madziva.

“We will have six entry points and there will not be many demarcations. We will charge $15 for upstairs part and $25 for the downstairs arena. We will have an electronic system to check tickets and doors will open two hours before the show. We are looking forward to a smooth event.”
