hotelier that will see them getting accommodation and transport at affordable rates when they visit the country.
The association’s president Mr Killer Zivhu identified the hotelier as Wanyama Group of Hotels in Tanzania.
“We have been given a facility for our members on business in Tanzania to stay at the hotelier’s various hotels dotted around Dar-es-Salaam as well as shuttle facilities at cheaper rates.”
He said the association wanted its members to travel in groups and ensure safety while in foreign countries. Cross border traders are prone to criminals with some ending up stranded after losing their hard-earned cash.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Tanzania Retired Major General Edzai Chimonyo urged Zimbabweans visiting the East African country to utilise their embassy.
“This is your home; you should feel free to come here for any assistance,” he said.
Ambassador Chimonyo said it was saddening to find out that some travellers got stranded without contacting the embassy.
“This is why we are here to help any Zimbabwean despite their political affiliation.”
He said the embassy was available to link businesspeople with the Tanzania community.
Meanwhile, the 30-member delegation of cro-ss-border traders that was in Tanzania on a maiden trip returned home after a successful business trip.
Among the traders were beverage and electrical gadgets dealers who managed to clinch lucrative deals with companies in the East African country.
Mrs Flora Maponga, a Bulawayo businesswoman who owns electrical gadgets shops in Zimbabwe, was among the traders.
“I managed to secure a very attractive deal with a Tanzanian company which I cannot name at the moment and it would be supplying us with an assortment of electrical appliances such as microwaves, plasma and HD television sets and radios,” she said.
Another businesswoman also from Bulawayo who owns a restaurant and night club said the trip was an eye opener and beneficial.
The delegation visited Tanzania and Zanzibar for one week under the fly now and pay later facility initiated by the Cross-Border Association and a local travel agent.
Under the facility, 200 more cross border traders are expected to travel to countries including China, Dubai and Angola.
