LONDON. — Arturo Vidal will smash Manchester United’s transfer record after verbally agreeing to join the club in a £47m deal. New United boss Louis Van Gaal has been desperate to make the Juventus and Chile midfielder his marquee signing of the summer.  And according to Chilean newspaper El Mercurio, Vidal has now verbally agreed to join United. It is understood the 27-year-old will double his salary at Old Trafford and is expected to put pen-to-paper on a four-year £120 000-a-week deal.

United will reportedly stump up as much as £63.3million for the World Cup star, who is set to form a new-look midfield with recent arrival Ander Herrera. Vidal’s representative, Fernando Felicevich, on Monday held crunch talks with Juventus and, according to sources in Italy, demanded they match United’s offer or let his client leave.

Juventus are understood to be unwilling to offer Vidal as lucrative a deal as United and are now bracing themselves for his departure.— The Daily Star.
