Artistes Against Cancer have been invited by the National Healthcare Trust to participate in the Inter Non-Governmental Organisations sports competitions that will be held at Belgravia Sports Club tomorrow. Artistes Against Cancer is a group that pursues cancer awareness projects and has musicians Pauline Gundidza, Alishas “Maskiri” Musimbe, Mzimba and producer Tungamidzai Simango.

Simango who is the brain child of the awareness campaign said they will use the opportunity to spread important information.

“We will be on an awareness campaign and we will also entertain guests. We have been invited by National Healthcare Trust to participate at the event and we will do our best,” he said.

He said they were humbled by the way the Government and some organisations have been working with them in taking the campaign throughout the country.

“The Government through the Ministry of Health and Child Care and various organisations including the National Healthcare Trust has managed to work with us in creating awareness against this disease,” said Simango.

The Chipinge born producer said they will take their campaign to schools.

“A free cancer generation will assist the nation and since these youths are the future we need to educate them about the disease.”

Maskiri said they were geared up for the awareness campaign.

“Guests must look forward to a well polished act from us as we are on a mission to impart important messages about cancer,” he said.

“As artistes we have to take responsibilities and work with the members of the public in creating awareness campaigns.”
