CHICKEN Inn coach Joey Antipas is hopeful the good times will continue to roll for his team after the Gamecocks shocked defending champions Dynamos at their Rufaro fortress and opened a two-point lead at the top of the table.The Gamecocks have been making progress quietly and reminded everyone of their mettle when they humiliated the Glamour Boys 3-0 at Rufaro on Sunday to stretch their winning streak to five straight games.

Chicken Inn will plunge into another top-of-the-table clash tomorrow when they host second-placed Triangle at Luveve.

“All we are doing is to take it game by game. Like the next game is Triangle so we will try to plot for Triangle so that we stay in the pack.

“To win the championship you need to stay in the race and put pressure on whoever is at the top. You never know what happens at the end of the season, it’s still early and we are going game by game.

“As long as we stay humble and keep our heads on our shoulders and move on game after game.

“Our backers, who are Chicken Inn, just need to motivate the boys with each passing game,” said Antipas.

The former Zimbabwe coach won the championship with Motor Action in 2010 when they beat Dynamos to the finishing line on goal difference.

Despite the Chicken Inn setback, Dynamos captain Augustine Mbara said they were looking to bounce back as they travel to lowly Whawha on Thursday.

“The game was difficult but I just hope in our coming fixtures we will correct our mistakes and start collecting maximum points.

“I hope all my teammates will rise from this defeat. We are still in the race. We just have to keep our heads up and maintain our attitude because a defeat can happen in a game of football.

“So we have to keep focused and press on,” said Mbara.

The Glamour Boys swapped places with Triangle who thumped Harare City 3-1 at Gibbo.

How Mine, until the weekend one of the inconsistent teams, were the biggest winners when they dished out a football lesson to newboys Whawha with a 6-0 thrashing.

Timothy January scored four goals in the match while the ageless Limited Chikafa weighed in with a brace.

There was a huge reward for CAPS United’s triumph in the Battle of the Cities as their victory over Highlanders helped them move five places up the ladder.

CAPS United’s next assignment is against Hwange and that game is on Thursday and has been moved from the National Sports Stadium to Gwanzura. CAPS United public relations officer Joyce Kapota said they had considered the economic factors in deciding to bring the game to Gwanzura, which is closer to the bulk of their fans.
