The current popularity of dancehall music is a sign that reggae has taken broader hold in Zimbabwe with several artists whom were previously inspired by dancehall reverting to gospel reggae.

This is no exception as another talented local artiste, upcoming musician Kudakwashe ‘‘Run It’’ Chiwamira joins the new breed of Zimdancehall artistes who are out to spread positivity.

Chiwamira who specialises in gospel reggae could just be the next best thing as he has struck gold by mixing reggae rhythms with Christianity themed lyrics.

The musician is set to launch his third album “Halleluyah” at Dekaro Restaurant, Harare show-grounds this Saturday.

“I started my musical career from humble beginnings in 2012. I was inspired mostly by hip-hop and tips of R‘n’B sounds. I then released my debut project titled ‘Inyasha’ and ‘Ndinovimba Nemi’ in 2013,” he said.

The talented crooner said following evolving musical trends, he eventually settled to adopt gospel reggae as his primary style.

“I am putting a positive spin on reggae music and fusing it with a tinge of dancehall along with regional hip-hop influences. This unique sound arrangement and pattern depicts ‘Halleluyah’, the project that I will be launching, to mark my first ever album launch since having entered the musical scene over three years ago,” he said.

This studio effort behind this project showcases a seasoned lyricist and vocalist, whose talent shines on 16 glorious tracks.

“Halleluyah” takes a dig at the evolving technological trends and how some are trading their values for worldly technological inventions.

The lead single “Pattern Yenyika” is a potential gospel anthem with an upbeat dancehall vibe.

“It’s more than just music, it is worship mixed with the sweet accents of reggae. I desire that this album impacts the hearts of listeners, challenging them to believe and be encouraged in the Lord and basically their world view on how Christians should conduct themselves in these changing times”, said the musician.

Most of the songs are receiving rave reviews on the country’s top radio stations Star FM and Zifm The musician is confident that the upcoming album launch will be instrumental in stamping authority on the local.

“I feel privileged to be able to translate spiritual messages into music that can edify and above all change lives through worship,” he said.

Supporting acts during the launch will include equally talented Flabbz, Brythreesixty, Dexter, Baysiq, Whistle, Gil, Yeomie Kay, C4g, T Nash and Slick.
