Afro-pop songstress Ammara Brown has joined forces with upcoming musician Manzul “Fuzzy L” Fazilahmed in a song “Like My Music” that formally introduces Afro-tonic music onto the scene. Afro-tonic music is a fusion of African traditional sound, reggae and calypso and is the brain child of Fazzy L. The duo’s new song that was launched this week has started making waves on social media and local radio stations.

It also got nods of approval from music critics when it featured on Star FM’s popular music show “Rate it or Hate it” this week.

“We are excited about the new sound and the response from critics is encouraging. ‘Like My Music’ has traditional elements and it is the definition of Afro-tonic music. It brings a new feeling to the market,” said Fazzy L about the single.

The song has won hearts because of its Afro bush party feel.

While the two musicians gave it a contemporary touch with their vocals, the use of traditional instruments (drums and maracas) keeps the song grounded.

Speaking on the project, Ammara expressed her delight about featuring on the song, praising her counterpart for his originality.

“I am quite confident that the song will be a hit because of its outstanding presence. Fuzzy L has a reggae voice but the music has a strong and original feel, which is a trait I look for in artistes that I collaborate with,” she said.

Ammara said while it is expected that not everyone will like the Afro-tonic sound, it is a hit with those who have a good music taste.

Together with Fuzzy L, she promised an equally unique follow-up video where she will showcase party dances.

Fuzzy L is also the artiste behind songs “Africa Unite” and “Toda Kufara” that also exhibit traits of the Afro-tonic sound
