The upmarket lodge, which started operating in December 2011, did not take time to meet and satisfy the standards of any hospitality facility as stipulated by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.

ZTA’s subsequent response was to award the lodge a three star rating — a status that not many hotels, let alone lodges, can ever dream of attaining.

The lodge has a vibrant, hospitable staff that is always at the service of the guests and has a unique marquee, all weather conference facility, which can accommodate up to 100 guests. The marquee is surrounded by lush green well-manicured shrubbery that surrounds the guests with a beautiful serene setting as they go about their business. Steered by an energetic and focused director, Mr Sydney Chikaka, Amazing Village has become popular in Masvingo with guests who love opulence and comfort after touring the Great Zimbabwe ruins and the country’s largest in-land water body, Lake Mutirikwi. Amazing Village has literally become the perfect sleeping destination.

The lodge started off as a restaurant that became popular for its delicious dishes.

“Our restaurant was so popular with people from within and outside Masvingo to the extent that we ended up opening other branches in the city to meet demand.

“Some of the visitors to our restaurants were tourist from outside Masvingo who, after meals, would have the hassle to find somewhere to put up and we ended up discovering that gap hence our diversification into the hospitality industry,” said the soft speaking Mr Chikaka.

He said Amazing Village was now working on expanding and was targeting other cities and towns in the expansion plan.

“We will be targeting cities and towns where there are tourist attractions as we seek to continue to be at the guest’s service in as far as top class accommodation is concerned,” he said.
