The Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA) is calling on input suppliers and companies willing to contract farmers during the 2017 /18 cropping season to register.

In a statement yesterday, AMA said all institutions and individual farmers who intended to grow crops during the 2017 /18 cropping season should register with the authority for the cropping season, which will run from October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018.

AMA said those farmers who intended to register should collect their forms at AMA offices in Mount Pleasant, Harare. “All institutions and individual farmers that intend to grow crops and animals are to register in accordance with the provisions of the Agricultural Marketing Authority Act 18:24,” said AMA.

“AMA is also urging institutions and individuals who intend to buy or sell or manufacture agricultural inputs and undertake contract farming during the 2017 /18 cropping season to register and renew their licences.”

The categories of institutions required to register are the fertiliser industry, seed industry, agro-chemical industry, suppliers of other agriculture inputs and contractors.

AMA is a statutory body established through an Act of Parliament with a broad mandate to regulate the participation in production, buying and processing of agricultural production in Zimbabwe.
