All is set for the fourth edition of the Wild Geese Arts Festival to be held on June 7 at Wild Geese Lodge in the capital.

The arts festival is a brainchild of Angela Bowen.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, Bowen said all is set for the festival that will see at least 135 Zimbabwean artists and sculptors exhibiting their work in the beautiful gardens of Wild Geese Lodge.

“I am happy to announce that preparations are at an advanced stage for this year’s edition of our Arts festival and as usual we are expecting artists from different provinces to come and showcase their artworks,” she said.

Bowen also said there is going to be live painting demonstrations by different artists.

“At least 20 artists will be participating in this demonstration and there will be two different topics and a blank canvas that will be awaiting them,” she said.

She added that the winners of last year edition will be given the opportunity to show case their new works.

“We are delighted to announce that Lawrence Bango, who won the prize for the Best New Artist at the Wild Geese Art Festival 2014 will be showing and selling his new work once again at the 2015 Art Festival, also Fungai Gwena who won the prize for the Best Sculpture last year at the Art Festival will be showcasing his new work again at this year’s festival,” she said.

Bowen said this year’s edition will also see talented Stanley Sibanda displaying his works at the Framing Centre tent.

In last year’s edition, artists came with their artworks from as far as Kariba, Bulawayo, Beitbridge, Masvingo, Mutare, and Nyanga, to throng the stunning Wild Geese Lodge gardens for the open market platform.

The 2014 event was no exception with an art competition of small paintings and sculptures under the theme “Remind Me of Zimbabwe”.

Wild Geese Art Festival offers visual artists a free platform to showcase their work, converse directly with the buyers and handle their sales.

When artists have conducted art business transactions ,they are kindly requested to remit 10 percent of their sales to the Wild Geese Charity.
