ALL is set for the fundraising dinner in honour of the First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe’s Golden Jubilee expected to be held today at the First Family’s Blue Roof residence in Borrowdale, Harare.

The event seeks to raise funds for charity organisations that Amai Mugabe is patron of, among them the Grace Mugabe Foundation, Danhiko Trust, Aids Counselling Trust, Zimbabwe National Association for Mental Health, the Adult Literacy Organisation in Zimbabwe and Musha Mukadzi Zimbabwe Armed Forces Trust.

A member of the organising committee, Mr Albert Mugabe said efforts to raise funds towards the event have been a success.

“We might have reached capacity in terms of sales of tables, which is a huge success, bearing in mind that the funds would be channelled to charity organisations,” said Mr Mugabe.

He said various artistes are expected to entertain guests.

They include superstar Oliver Mtukudzi and youthful gospel artistes, among others.

Mr Mugabe said guests are expected to start arriving at 4:30pm and appealed to Zimbabweans to donate towards the event.

Mr Mugabe said there may be plans of making the function an annual event.

Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has hailed Amai Mugabe for her frankness and straightforwardness in dealing with issues affecting Zimbabwe.

Congratulating Amai Mugabe on her birthday, VP Mphoko and his office said the First Lady was also playing an integral role in caring for the under-privileged .

“We celebrate her forthrightness, candidness and frankness in dealing with issues affecting our nation.

“We wish you long life, full of happiness and fulfilment of your goals, especially for the children, the disabled and under-privileged,” reads the statement.

VP Mphoko’s Office also recognised Dr Mugabe’s pivotal function in giving President Mugabe the necessary support in leading the country.
