A fundraising concert dubbed “The final push” is being held tomorrow at the Mount Pleasant Hall in order to raise funds for Takudzwa Paradza’s bone marrow transplant to be performed in India on July 8.

The concert is running under the theme #SaveTaku and a car wash will be held alongside a sponsored walk on the day before the event starts as a technique to exhaust all fundraising methods in line with the last push.

Gate entrances are pegged at $3, $10 for VIP and $20 for VVIP.

Artistes joining hands in solidarity to aid Takudzwa include “Happy” singer Tehn Diamond, dancehall chanter Killer T, award winners Soul Afrika, Sharky, Jah Prayzah, Leonard Mapfumo, Platinum Prince, Pro Beatz, Tariro Negitare and BaShupi.

The concert has been organised by Takudzwa’s close friends and family members as an initiative to be proactive in fundraising for the cancer stricken athlete.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, guitarist Tariro Negitare believes that this concert will help Takudzwa successfully go through his bone marrow transplant and as a mother she can relate.

“This concert is a genuine need, I am a mother and know what it is like to be in a situation where your child is in need of such assistance. The only humane thing is to help with the little I can,” she said.

Soul Afrika vocalist Tatenda Mathe said the band was moved by this initiative.

“We were touched by the whole situation and we felt that if taking part in the concert can make a difference, then we should take part.

“As humans we are continuously faced with various challenges and we should all come together and treat whatever challenge as a common enemy, which is one of the values we live by as part of the Soul Afrika – Let there be music for a cause,” he said.

Takudzwa Paradza was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer called Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in September last year after having gone through chemotherapy. The Answer the Call Foundation has managed to raise a $22000 with the boost of CBZ that donated $15 000 on Monday.
