DYNAMOS will welcome back midfield hardman Steven Alimenda while talisman Ronald Chitiyo could also return when they plunge into the Commander Defence Forces Charity Shield final showdown against Highlanders at Rufaro on Sunday. Alimenda missed three games after being found guilty of assaulting and insulting Tsholotsho medic Sibusisiwe Mthunzi during a Premier Soccer League match at Rufaro on May 25.

The presence of Alimenda will come as a huge boost for Dynamos with team manager, Richard Chihoro, saying his experience was priceless.

“Steven is back after his suspension and it is a morale-booster for the team considering his experience.

“He is a seasoned player whose contribution to the team is big,” said Chihoro.

In the absence of Alimenda, Dynamos coach David Mandigora resorted to Obey Mwerahari for the holding midfield role.

Star midfielder Chitiyo is back in light training after missing last week’s encounter through injury.

Chihoro said everyone was working hard to be part of the team for Sunday’s clash and competition for places was tough.

“The preparations are going on well and the players are working hard to make it into the team. Everyone need the medals so they are working hard preparing for Highlanders.

“Our players have grown in confidence when we play against the so-called giants and they know what is expected of them.

“It will be a difficult match but we are preparing well for it,” said Chihoro.

The two giants have recently clashed in two mouth-watering ties in the Castle Lager Premiership which have produced seven goals.

DeMbare edged Bosso 3-2 in the first league encounter at Rufaro, one of the best battles between the two giants in recent years, while the reverse encounter at Barbourfields on Sunday ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Glamour Boys are yet to lose a league match to their biggest rivals in nine years and the showdown in Bulawayo even attracted fans from South Africa. To advance to the finals Dynamos overcame bitter rivals CAPS United 1-0 in the semi finals at Rufaro in March while Highlanders saw off How Mine’s challenge by the same 1-0 margin at Barbourfields.
