What can music lovers expect when three top performers – Alick Macheso, Progress Chipfumo and Jah Prayzah share the stage? The potentially explosive gig and arguably the show of the week in greater Harare is one that you do not want to miss.
This is Macheso’s first gig in Harare after a month starving his fans. He has been touring the country where he reconnected with his fans.

But tomorrow’s gig will be special to Macheso aka Extrabasso as it brings him closer to his home fans. So when he takes to the stage at Ice & Fire Pamuzinda, fans will be eagerly waiting to see him perform some of his yesteryear hits including “Makandidana” , “Madhawu”, “Shedia” and “Baba naMai” to mention a few.

Extrabasso a name he got after his amazing bass guitar skills, will be joined on stage by two talented musicians – Chipfumo and Jah Prayzah.

Chipfumo and Jah Prayzah have collaborated before and the two work magic whenever they share the stage.

The gig will see Jah and his Third Generation Band will no doubt ready to showcase themselves. There is something about Jah Prayzah’s stage presence which makes him enjoyable.

But since music lovers seem not to have enough of Jah, music will be the soul food and it will play on until sunrise.

Jah is arguably the man-of the-moment. He wrote his own piece of history at the 13th edition of the National Arts Merit Awards by winning a record four gongs including for Outstanding Male Musician, Outstanding Album (Tsviriyo), Outstanding Song (Tsviriyo) and the most coveted People’s Choice Award.

At least from being a curtain raiser at some of the high profile gigs, Jah has simply taken the lead is so far as live shows are concerned.

He has taken his brand to another level and he is one youngster to watch out for in the near future.

Jah is the sort of musician who does not belong to a particular genre and it is difficult to pigeonhole his music.

However, what is known about him is that he plays nice music. Music that moves revellers.

He continues to collaborate with other musicians in the likes of Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave and Ammara Brown.

Chipfumo is probably one of Zimbabwe’s most talented and yet underrated musicians.

With a smash hit album “Hold My Hand” to his credit, Chipfumo is still very much in the game although he is playing second fiddle to musicians like Jah Prayzah who used to curtain raise for him.

However, you cannot deny the fact that he is also a good composer and music arranger.

Songs such as “Tsiurika”, “Amai”, “Mangerengere” and “Havakusiyi” show his great artistry and yet not many people appreciate his music.

Show organiser, Partson Chimbodza of Chipaz Promotions urged fans to attend the gig in their numbers saying it was a once off show this winter.

“We know Macheso has not been performing in Harare for the past month and this is the chance to watch him live on stage.

“There is a good line up with Jah and Progress who are also on that bill. So the music is diverse and fans should come in numbers and have a great time,” Chimbodza said.

A great show indeed awaits music lovers this time around.
