Afro-jazz sensation Alexio Kawara gave fans a preview from his forthcoming album “Oyi” during a fund-raising dinner dance hosted by Mother of Peace Orphanage in the capital over the weekend.

He sang a gospel song titled “Ishe Jesu Varipo”, along with “Nehana” and “Zvazvinhu”, which were glimpses of the 12-track album which will be released together with a new video of the track “Zvazvinhu”.

This will be Alexio’s fourth album but the “hymns” do not mean he is branching into gospel music.

“Alexio is very flexible in composing any type of music, he is someone who can sing and relate to any situation.

“Ishe Jesu Varipo has a gospel feel to it but that does not mean he is now into gospel, it only shows he is gifted in many ways,” said his manager.

According to the manager, the new album which also features Roki on the “Chakaipa” song is going to rival the musician’s debut “Usazondisiye” and his hit song “Shaina”.

In a speech read on her behalf at the same occasion, Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Walfare Senator Prisca Mupfumira urged the public to continue supporting vulnerable children.

“I urge all Zimbabweans to continue working with the Government to support vulnerable persons particularly children. Communities should endeavour to look within themselves to assist those in need,” she said. Honourable Minister Mupfumira also said construction of schools by orphanages enhances quality education for every minor.

As part of its expansion, Mother of Peace is working on the Devine Child Primary School project which will provide quality education to children under its care, and those form the surrounding communities, The school, which is still under construction, has plans to enrolpupils from ECD up to Grade Seven.

Among those who attended the dinner dance were officials from Zimra, Zimplats, Mutoko Rural District Council, Divine Child Primary School SDA and care-givers from the Mother of Peace Orphanage Centre.
