Air Zimbabwe flights resumed yesterday after the airline secured adequate supplies of Jet A1 fuel. Spokesperson Mrs Shingai Dhliwayo confirmed the development saying the fuel situation that had affected its flights last week had normalised.

“Air Zimbabwe wishes to advise all its valued customers that the fuel situation that affected its operations during the past week has since normalised.

“Flight delays which were experienced were as a result of the non-availability of Jet A1 fuel from suppliers who are licensed to supply the product for all airlines flying to Zimbabwe.

“These shortages also affected all airports in Zimbabwe and some in the region. However, the fuel suppliers have since confirmed that Jet A1 fuel supplies are now back to normal,” she said.

Mrs Dhliwayo said despite these challenges Airzim managed to fulfil all its operational obligations without any flight cancellations.

“The airline would like to thank all its stakeholders for the support as the teams worked tirelessly to find alternate fuel sources and these efforts helped minimise flight disruptions.”

Last week, the airline was hit by acute fuel shortages which forced it to cancel all morning flights and approach regional counterparts for assistance.

All morning flights were cancelled and delayed last Friday to midday as the crisis escalated.
