Agric Show activity peaks

Activity has peaked at the Harare Agricultural Show which yesterday registered over 10 000 attendances. Exhibitors also confirmed that enquiries for their products had improved with stands registering an increase in visits. Zimbabwe Agricultural Society chief executive Dr Anxious Masuka yesterday said the attendances had increased compared to last year.“We are expecting about 70 000 attendance on Saturday. In total, we are expecting over 200 000 people to attend the show this year. The attendances have increased compared to last year,” he said.

Dr Masuka said the quality of exhibitions had improved compared to last year.

“If you compare the quality of exhibitions, you can notice that there is an improvement in terms of quality compared to last year. This indicates the resilience of businesses in Zimbabwe and that the business sector is growing,” he said.

He said popular musicians were coming to the show to entertain people.

“There are various aspects of entertainment and most of the popular musicians are coming through to entertain the people.’’

Dr Masuka said there was also an increase of exhibitors who registered this year.

“There is also an increase of exhibitors who registered this year as shown by the statistics. The exhibitors who registered this year are 77 693 compared to 70 466 who registered last year,” he said.

Show-goers were treated to different forms of entertainment in the arena and around the show grounds.

There were road shows, youth festivals and displays from the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services Band also performed live band at their stand.

Children were entertained at the amusement park, with most of them having their faces painted.

There were lots of competitions at different stands and lucky winners went home with T-shirts, phones and caps among other things.
