OVER 600 villagers from Arda-Magudu Ranch in Chiredzi North have petitioned Parliament to investigate the authenticity of their proposed eviction from the 6 000-hectare piece of land which they got during the Fast Track Land Reform Programme.

This comes as Masvingo Province is also tackling relocation issues at Save Valley Conservancy, where 15 000 villagers are set to be relocated to pave way for the establishment of a boundary fence around the wildlife sanctuary. Chairman of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Lands and Agriculture, Cde Christopher Chitindi, assured the farmers in Chiredzi North that Parliament will take necessary steps to ensure the resolution of their grievances.

“You have raised an important subject,” he said. “I wasn’t aware that all farmers in this area had no offer letters. We will take your grievances to the relevant ministries so that we come up with a solution.
