Kadoma City has started rehabilitation of its road network after the local authority got an allocation of $550 000 from Zimbabwe National Roads Authority (ZINARA). In an interview, town clerk Mr Malvern Dondo said the allocation from Zinara came at the right time as the city was battling to fund road rehabilitation programme on its own. He said the city’s road network was extensively damaged in last year’s heavy rains, which saw Government declaring a state of disaster on roads.

“Work to rehabilitate roads has started and motorists and members of the public using Robert Mugabe, Mupamombe and Nyambo roads should be advised that they will be partially or fully closed for resurfacing,” said Mr Dondo. Kadoma city engineer Bernatah Nhika said the Zinara fund would help them resurface at least five kilometres.

“Currently, Zinara disbursed $550 000, which we are going to use to resurface at least five kilometres of our road network. We want to try and do the resurfacing before the rainy season.,” he said. Eng Nhika said the local authority was in the process of repairing damaged bridges in the city.
“We have also started repairing bridges that are on the verge of collapse and we are doing that in phases,” he said.
