Five Cabinet ministers are expected to address Provincial Co-ordinating Committees from Matabeleland North and South and Bulawayo on Sunday on the regional perspectives in the implementation of Government’s economic blueprint, Zim-Asset. The announcement was made by Senior Minister in the Office of the President and Cabinet Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo yesterday.
“The second meeting of Cabinet Ministers with PCC’s of the ruling party Zanu-PF provinces of Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan and Matabeleland North will be held on Sunday, September, 7, 2014 at Elangeni Training Centre in Bulawayo,” Ambassador Khaya Moyo said.

The ministers that will address the PCC’s include Finance and Economic Development Minister, Patrick Chinamasa, Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Minister, Dr Joseph Made, Energy and Power Development Minister, Dzikamai Mavhaire, Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Minister, Francis Nhema and Mines and Mining Development Minister Walter Chidhakwa.

“The ministers will present papers on the implementation of Zim-Asset from a regional perspective. Only members of the three PCC’s will be allowed to attend the meeting. It is therefore imperative that all members of these PPC’s attend without fail,” Ambassador Khaya Moyo said.

Under Zim-Asset Government has identified the establishment of Special Economic Zones across the country.
SEZs are a designed geographical region, line of business or a company that export goods and provide employment.
The business also operates under special regulations that are different from other areas in the same country.

Government also seeks to enhance targeted economic activities in the designated areas, strengthening the industrial base in the country, promoting development of infrastructure facilities and ensuring inclusive economic growth through the adoption of SEZs.
