More than 20 ladies will contest in the inaugural Miss Utakataka pageant to be held at Airport Lounge tomorrow.
The beauty pageant coincides with Peter Moyo’s 25th birthday bash.General fans and professional models from a local modelling agency have registered to participate in the beauty contest that Moyo initiated to salute female fans of Utakataka Express.

Event organiser Biggie Chonoperekwei of Divine Assignments said there have been numerous enquiries since they announced the pageant and more than 20 ladies have registered so far.

“The idea sparked excitement because it is not a formal modelling show. Any Utakataka Express female fan can participate. We had a number of enquiries and some of the participants are coming from a modelling agency,” he said.

He added that they will unveil some of the prizes on the day of the show.

“Prizes will be unveiled on that night and the winner is going to be happy because Divine Assignments has joined hands with Utakataka Express to come up with good presents,” he said.

Moyo’s manager, Sukol Dube, said they were geared to celebrate the birthday with the Young Igwe, as Moyo is popularly known.

“This is one of the events that will see one of our fans honoured and we are happy about that,” he said.

He added that this was one of the opportunities for them to give “thanks” to their fans.

“We decided to come to Harare for that because it is a central place and we are looking forward to a great show,” he said.

Moyo was born on 25 August 1989 in Kwekwe at Mbizo General Hospital. The musician took over Utakataka Express after the death of his father Tongai Moyo and has successfully launched his debut album “Mushonga Mukuru”. The young musician said he was working on a DVD that will be released soon.
