There will be a variety of performers from jazz, gospel and hip hop during the festival.More than 100 food exhibitors are expected to take part at the inaugural Harare International Food and Music Festival scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday at Borrowdale Racecourse. There will be a variety of performers from jazz, gospel and hip hop during the festival.In an interview, organisers Jacaranda Media’s spokesperson Tinashe Kitchen said everything was in place for the festival.

“We are still expecting over 100 exhibitors. In addition to the Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Sub-Saharan exhibitors, we also have a French pastry company that will be exhibiting, as well motor industry exhibitors, restaurants, and hotels,” he said.

On the music side, he also said everything was going according to the plan

“We are very happy that everything has been going according to plan, our line-up for the shows is complete. Our Jazz Night and Gospel Show are promising to be huge shows as our artists are now all in the country, Reverend TT Chivaviro flew in from South Africa last week and has already started rehearsing for the event,

“Artists like Junior Brown, Minister Mahendere, Calvin and the Fishers of Men have also started their preparations for the event,’’ he said.

He highlighted that they have also partnered with a recycling company Unique Innovations to join other partners including the local radio station Star Fm.

“We have added a new partner, Unique Innovations (a recycling company that specializes in green technology). They join Star FM, CIMAS, Ster-Kinerkor, and Webtickets as major partners,” he said.

Kitchen said they have added a number of new competitions so as to make the day a memorable one.

“We have added a few other competitions, including HIFM Biggest Stomach Eating Competition. It will be sponsored by Accenture Investments. This is in addition to our Best Brand and Top Chef competitions. A children’s area will also be established so the kids can also have a good time at a free and happy family event,” he said.

Music legend Oliver Mtukudzi is set to headline the festival.
